We finished the filmFirst review - Jon Turteltaub
National Treasure
I really don't know what to say. Really.
This film is gorgeous, bold, and beyond unique. I wouldn't know where to begin in terms of giving feedback. It's such a personal piece that it seems almost ridiculous to offer suggestions.
You asked about where I was confused, where did it flow... but this is such a different kind of film from the films I make and the films I see. I have no idea what rhythms you want to express. Watching the film as though it were a "normal" movie is like trying to judge Chinese poetry without knowing a word of Chinese. I don't know the language you're using... so I just surrender to the imagery, words, and music.
There are metaphors and symbols that I felt I connected with... and others that I knew I wasn't relating to. And I kept wondering if it was you who was missing a chance to communicate with me, or if it were me who was missing a chance to understand you.
Most of all, because I know you and Peter, I hear the narration in a different way than an objective audience would. I know that the voice over is reality, not some scripted fiction. It's your genuine point of view. Which fascinates me on a personal level. I want to know more about you and Peter and how you have changed and survived and grown and discovered.
For me, and my narrative, mainstream brain... the tale of a twin witnessing his brother go through a journey into either insanity or being a prophet... a twin having faith and belief in his brother when no one else does... and the story of someone rejected by Hollywood and, actually, the whole world, but finding acceptance in Julie, her husband, the art world, and a few others, is fascinating. To me, that would be a beautiful movie no matter what style of film making you used to tell it... documentary, narrative, or art/experimental.
One thing I can say is that the songs are incredible. They really are. And they aren't over played or over used. They don't go on and on. They were exceptional... and your delivery of these songs is very powerful.
Overall, I would say that this is a beautiful piece of cinema. As a story or as a message or philosophy, it's hard to say how well it works. I think some people will respond deeply and profoundly to it. Other people will just think it's a big stupid waste of time that makes no sense. I'm sort of both. I see and appreciate the spirituality and I felt invited to feel and think and abandon life's sad, dull routines. But I was also aware sometimes that I was bored of some repetitive things... such as hearing a song and watching Peter dance, or watching a crystal apple in a river or a tree again and again. But that's the thing about this movie, I'm not sure you should change anything. It's all about where you are going, what you are envisioning, and what you need to express.
So, again. I don't feel I have anything to contribute except my genuine respect and amazement at the beauty you've created. Peter is so seductive on screen and it's hard to take your eyes off him. And the lighting and locations are all so impressive and stunning. It's very special.
My guess is that 90% of the people will look at the movie, scratch their heads, and then get mad and confused. People don't understand movies like this...or even why they get made. But 10% will really connect and feel something. And that's who you need to get your film to.
Very well done, David. Very well done. I'm very impressed.
With love,
Jon
Wolf,
I am honored that you shared the pre-release of Faith Street Corner Tavern with me. I watched it immediately late last night.
You ARE the alchemist! It'a an absolute masterpiece! Pure inspired genius. I cried as you so eloquently conveyed what Faith Street Corner Tavern was really about. It was a moment of self-discovery for me, and will be for audiences alike.
On the creative and technical side... Gorgeous imagery, transitions, fantastic mix and the music... Well, let me just say that it's one of the best scores I have ever heard.
Thank you for a beautiful film and for the message of Light and Love that is truly needed for all of mankind. We are going to see and hear a lot more from You, Sweetie Petie and Faith Street in the days and weeks ahead.
This film is huge. Different. Profound. In some ways, it may be too big a film for people to digest all at once. No matter what happens, keep your head and your heart intact. It will find its way.
Kudos to all involved. I can't wait to share it with my family & friends. Until then, my heart soars like a hawk.
My Best,

WOW!! DOUBLE WOW!!!! TRIPLE WOW!!!
What can I say about Faith Street Corner Tavern that would even come close to doing it justice?
It is an amazing film!!! It is artistry at it's best. The cinematography is beyond beautiful. Magical. Breathtaking!!! The story is emotional. Riveting. Very sad-- but it leaves you with a feeling of hope. The editing is brilliant. And the music... OMG. The music. When David sings while the scenes are taking place... the intensity is gripping. The only movement my body could make was my heart somehow continued to beat and the tears that fell down my face.
The story of the Light and Peter's struggle and hardships were wonderfully told. That God is here, like never before in the history of this planet-- and no one will believe. David- you nailed it!!! You absolutely nailed it!!! The Light definitely guided you throughout the making of this magnificent project. Peter, I hope you can remember making this film, some of the dancing and the other things the Light had you do and say, because it was GREAT!!! I know you can watch the film... but I hope He lets you remember making it. The scene of Peter and the psychiatrist absolutely broke my heart.
I am blown away at how beautifully Wolf's story intertwined with Peter's and the true magic of Faith Street Corner Tavern. And in the end, the people knew God was here, like never before, and they were all given a second chance as they waited in line to receive their bottles of what they needed in their lives. If only the film's ending would really come true. The acting was absolutely fantastic! Each and everyone in the film were just awesome.
I knew this film would be dynamic from the short glimpses I've been honored to receive along the way. But seeing the film in it's entirety... WOW. WOW.
Thank you David and Peter and Dearest Light. I am very honored to be one of the first to see this incredible film. Can't wait to read the rave reviews from Cannes!!!
Thank you- Thank you- Thank you!!!!!

“Faith Street Corner Tavern” is the only full length feature film that I know of that ever
was attempted by a professional photographer who is also an accepted artist by being
displayed in a number of Art Galleries on the US West Coast. Also, . Wolf shows his full repertory in FSCT with his singing and
accompanying himself on the guitar on the thirty-five original songs in the sound track of
said film; unbelievably he was the composer of the lyrics and music of all of the songs!
Fourteen of the songs will be available on a CD with or without the success of FSCT.
With the above as background, this film should not be observed or judged on its content
alone but as a true work of Art-actually in the same breath as a painting, wall hanging,
sculptor/statue, hanging display etc., however, simultaneously in more then one Major
Art Museum. The film itself is an allegory that reveals the love and faith of a twin
brother for his kin’s trials and tribulations caused by his misunderstood antics. If and
when you watch the film, judge it more on its display of artistic beauty and use of film
alliteration between action, lyric and music. This is where the story in the film plays
second fiddle to the ancillary content.
It is probably the first professional film ever that 99% of the film can be attributed to one
person: the story, the costumes, the location, director, the picking of the cast of armature
actors, the one man photographer and on and on to the finished project.Wolf and his
dog “Cowboy” also were actors while the camera stood alone doing its job!
In my estimation my son Wolf accomplished something that Woody Allen almost did
when he began, Bergman never tried but Disney accomplished within another venue,
animated film which also was a work of art and Charley Chaplin just missed it in the
1930’s.

"Wolf has created a sublime piece of transcendent art unlike anything I have seen before. Weaving together images, music and words into a tapestry of magic, Wolf has
created his own unique vision of beauty."

Outstanding Trailer. This movie is not only a success but one of the best cinematographies I have seen, scene after scene
It was great meeting you (and Cowboy) today. Thanks for taking the time to show me some of your selects from "Faith Street..." It is sure to be a masterpiece!
I am blown away by your creative & technical storytelling talent. The music is hypnotic and powerful... The words poignant, poetic and prophetic... The images rich and LASTING.
I know that Dana views it as part documentary, but, to me, it appears to have morphed into something much much more. It's a soul-searching adventure that draws the viewer in and hooks the heart.
You have taken the raw digital cinema form to new heights and given it a rich, earthy ground to root within. You spoke of alchemy. Well, this film is the fertile fruit of it. In the cold landscape of the digital age, you have surrounded this story in a rich warm canvas of light and energy. God is surely in the details.
If an audience does not find this film, I fear they are truly dead.
Please, please keep me in the loop for any additional shooting days, or for interesting locations along the Southcoast of MA, to help assist you with shots, sound, etc. I will MAKE TIME.
Again, THANK YOU for sharing your wonderful film with me!

" This is a film everyone should see. With hauntingly beautiful cinematography and an outstanding sound track. The story exceeds the definitive characteristics of reality, far surpasses the limitations of mere imagination, and lays to rest conflicting beliefs that affect the human spirit.
"This is an enduring work of art,
that raises the bar- then surpasses it."

"Wolf is one of the most amazing artists I have ever worked with. He radiates with creativity and thought. His unique voice and musical style is all his own. When Wolf opens his mouth to start to sing, be prepared to be taken on the ride of your life. His voice and lyrics are moving, emotional, and flow with life and breath. I have never heard an artist like Wolf before and know that Faith Street Corner Tavern will share this secret talent with the world."
Lauren Batman - Singer Songwriter
" It really is a classic, timeless, I think, as true classics are. And thus, I will not even try to grasp it all in one sitting, or pretend that I did... ....Of course, I received this first viewing thru the lens of my own experience- possibly bias- but to me the visual beauty, so complex, entwined with your poetry, imagery and mystery as the snakes about the physician's symbol. I will return to the teaser again, and probably again, to process the words more, to absorb them, to understand more... and I hope I can ask you about it verbally, face to face, ... it seems too meaningful to risk trivializing... wow, artistry....spiritual, technically stunning...stimulating, encouraging...I really hope we can talk...the imagery is through-the ages REAL... the work is courageous, idealistic, beautiful...this is what I think." I knew a while ago when Wolf gave me the privilage of seeing his work in the earlier stages I was witnessing a work of genious in progress. Seeing parts of this film as it was being developed, everytime I thought "it doesnt get better than this", it did, visually stunning, beautful music, and a feeling that cuts straight to the heart. Some movies you watch..... This one you experience. A film for the senses and the soul..... I've truely never seen anyone so dedicated and focused on his/her art.... I believe "Faith Street Corner Tavern" to be the work of a man guided by the hands of Angels.....

"Epic! "
"So very very beauiful. A masterpiece of filming the most simple of subjects to the 10th power of beauty. Wolf gives us the most profound and thought provoking of song lyrics. There is a profound expression of a soul living in a much higher place, -he intices us to come along---his awsome power of creative genius and heart beauty lives in this trailer or teaser."
Peggy - Art gallery rep
":Masterfully shot, this film takes us on a journey into a space where light and shadows dance in-between reality and dreams deep within our soul.... a space somewhere between magic and madness.... where genius finds its poetic justice.A collection of thousands of moments and frames, each on its own representing an art piece in itself, when frozen in time.A truly inspiring work of Art and Poetry in motion!"
